The OmniMetrix Extended Input-Output (EIO) Remote Terminal Unit is a general purpose wireless monitoring system, available for use over all of the wireless connection channels that OMX offers.
The EIO unit was designed for Cell Site monitoring, allowing simple connection of a range of inputs including Temperature Alarms, Loss of Utility Power Alarms, Tower Light Alarms, HVAC Operation reports, and Door Open / Intrusion alarms. The unit offers broad applicability to a wide range of uses such as HVAC. It is a very powerful device, and can be used with the lowest cost, lowest data rate wireless channels, or the highest performance channels equally well.
The unit offers an array of monitoring and control functions, including:
- 32 Discrete Inputs
16 of these may be used as Analog Voltage measurement or Digital Logic Level inputs. These logic levels may be supplied by relay contact closure or by DC drive voltages greater than 3.5 volts. In analog input mode, these inputs may be used with 4-20 ma, 0-5 VDC, and 0-10 VDC devices.
16 of these are dedicated opto-isolated logic inputs that are activated by applied logic voltages greater than 6 volts DC.
- 16 Discrete Opto Relay Outputs
These are Normally Open solid state relays, available for controlling other equipment.
- 2 RS-232 Serial Ports
These ports are available for custom interfaces using customer serial interfaces. A common example is Modbus.
- 1 RS-485 MultiDrop Serial Port
This port is commonly used for OmniMetrix inter-module communication, Modbus, or other customer proprietary protocols.
- 1 Dedicated 4-20 mA Input
This is commonly used for measuring arbitrary analog values such as fuel level.
- Real-Time Clock
This feature allows the device to make time-based measurements and reports.
- On-Board Non-Volatile Memory for Data Logging
This feature allows the unit to log data measured, even if that data does not require transmission over the air. Typically 5,000 time-stamped measurements are available in this configuration.
